Bordered by the Merrimack River and the Atlantic Ocean, Salisbury was incorporated in 1640. The town is situated in northeastern Massachusetts, bordered by Amesbury, Seabrook, New Hampshire and the Atlantic Ocean, and is a residential community of 7800 people. Salisbury's proximity to Boston, only 42 miles north of the city, as well as its access to Interstates 95, 495 and Route 1, has made it an attractive home to many.
The modern Salisbury encompasses farms, beach, marshlands and both residential and commercial space. The town has one of the lowest tax rates in the Merrimack Valley. The Salisbury Beach State Reservation is the Commonwealth's busiest, with over two hundred thousand visitors annually to the four-mile beach and campground. Marinas line the river and provide a great spot for bass and blue fishing.
